We are expecting Martin back anyday soon...
15th November Dart - Given that we had to decamp to the river Exe instead of the lower dart at the weekend due to car trouble, I feel we should attempt to get to the lower dart again. Most of the paddlers on the two recent trips would probably benefit from further grade 2 water, and the river Dart has a different character to the Exe which people should find interesting. The rocks on the Dart are granit, and are nice and round and cuddly, but they do tend to hide themselves well, sort of stealth rocks. You'll like it :-)Please let Martin.H know if you would like to come on this trip so that he can start to make a list. Please also indicate if you need any particular kit, such as a helmet, and also indicate if you can drive and carry boats and people. For the trip you will need: boat, paddles, buoyancy aid, spraydeck, helmet, warm paddling clothes including a windproof layer, food (and some way of carrying it securely in your boat), and money for fuel etc. As usual we can supply boat, paddles, buoyancy aid, spraydeck, and we have a few helmets if people need them.
We are into November now, so bear in mind that the water and air temperature will probably be lower than it has been of late, and you will need to dress accordingly. This preferably means a wetsuit and thermals plus a cag on top, and warm footwear such as wetsuit boots. If you are unclear about whether you gear is good enough, please ask questions and Martin can advise you.
20th December Dart or Usk - Improver's whitewater. As above, hopefully on whichever river we didn't do last time.
3rd - 9th Jan- Scotland Trip.
Week paddling in the western higlands on some of the UK's best white water. We will be hopefully be paddling some grade 3/4&5 classics. Cold water, bad weather and some very difficult rapids mean drykit, big boats and skill are a must! Check out previous videos in the video section. (NOW FULL)
As per usual, if interested email us at chippenhamcanoeclub@hotmail.com
